Principal's Message

CES Families,
I am honored to be the principal of Central Elementary School. Leading a school with a positive culture and a tradition of excellence is a blessing. It has been my privilege to serve children, parents, and stakeholders for the past twenty-seven years as an educator. From my experiences, I have developed a desire for service. Providing assistance to children, teachers, and families is my priority. As a result of a growth mind-set, I am passionate about creating a learning environment that nurtures students’ interest and in return generates total engagement. Exploring instructional methods that encompass a variety of best practices that meet the individual educational needs of today’s students is exciting. My goal is to help students develop habits that foster social, emotional, and academic growth. The mentioned student attributes will continue the legacy of success that has been established at Central Elementary!

For fifteen years, I have served as a school administrator.  My leadership involvement consists of elementary and middle school experience. Prior to entering school administration, I taught for over thirteen years in numerous elementary classroom positions and understood the importance of the foundational years of a child’s life. Having experiences with this wide age range of children has helped me grow as a teacher and leader. I understand the importance of the initial development of a child and the significance of the critical skills required for a successful transition into middle school. My love for kids and ability to establish positive relationships have been the key priorities when working with students of all ages.

Marshall County is my home and I’m an alumni of the district. I’m the mother of two children who were actively involved in several extra-curricular activities offered through the school system. Griffin is Senior Civil Engineering major at Murray State University.  Gracelyn attends John A. Gupton College and is majoring in the Mortuary Science/Funeral Home Director program. My husband, Shane, is a teacher at MCHS and is the Head Coach of the Lady Marshall Softball team.  Our family is completely vested in the district and wears the orange and blue proudly!

Throughout my career, I have strived to expand students’ knowledge and nurture their talents. I am passionate about each and every child and hold myself accountable in helping all teachers and students reach their full potential that ultimately leads to success. I am here to serve the families of Central Elementary! Please do not hesitate to email Jill Darnall or contact me at (270)527-0796.

Best Regards,
Jill Darnall
